All across the country we are feeling the effects of the economic downturn. Texas is better off than most states, but we’re certainly still in need of new jobs and revenues.
Our plan to allow slot machines at the racetracks would generate more than 70,000 new local jobs and infuse much-needed capital into our local economies. In addition, we’d be able to recapture more than half of the $2.5 billion spent annually by Texans in neighboring states that permit gaming. Unfortunately, despite the clear benefits of slot machines in Texas, last session state legislators ultimately decided to deny you the opportunity to vote on this important matter.
You can change that. Campaign season has started all across Texas. This gives you an opportunity to elect someone who shares your belief that Texans deserve the right to vote on allowing slot machines at existing horse and greyhound tracks.
We urge you to find out where your state legislators are on the issue of allowing Texans to vote on slot machines at racetracks. In addition, be sure you’re registered to vote, so that when the time comes you can make your voice heard.
